Our History
The USNAO is the United States National Astronomy Olympiad, a nationwide qualifying exam for the International Astronomy Olympiad.

The USNAO was formed in 2019 in collaboration with Rice University and Texas Southern University. The USNAO 2019 team was made possible by our mentors and sponsors, Dr. Reiff and Mr. Pacheco.

If you would like to register a location as a testing center for the USNAO, or compete in the olympiad, visit our registration page.

Every year the USNAO will send five top competitors to the International Astronomy Olympiad, selected using a qualifying exam, organized by the Institute of Solid State Physics. The 24th IAO will be held in Piatra Neamt, Romania, from October 19-27.
